The Martial arts ArchivesNintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers--which at first glance look like tiny additions meant to support the tablet-like portable/home console it can slide into--is actually packed with tech.
For one thing: there's motion control. This isn't too surprising, considering Nintendo's console predecessors featured motion control-equipped Wii remotes.
In addition to a joystick, shoulder buttons and the standard four action buttons, the controllers also feature a capture button. Just like the PS4's share button, you'll be able to capture screenshots and, eventually, video.
Nintendo also showed off the Joy-Cons' accelerometer, a rumble feature and an IR camera that can apparently measure shapes (demonstrated by rock, paper, scissors hand gestures) and distances to them.
If you're wondering how they will keep you in the game, Joy-Cons can be charged with a USB-C cable.
Oh, and they come in multiple colors! Neon blue and Neon red. You can buy them individually for $49.99 or a pair for $79.99. The charging grip it slides into is $29.99.
UPDATE: Jan. 13, 2017, 1:18 a.m. EST Whoops. I made a brain hiccup/mention of Joy-Cons featuring AR tech which was inaccurate. This post has been fixed to reflect that.
