As if exercise bikes weren’t already hard enough to fit into apartments.
At CES 2022,Semi-dokyumento: Tokkun Meiki Dukuri LG unveiled “Virtual Ride,”a new spin on at-home exercise equipment. It combines a pretty standard-looking exercise bike with a decidedly non-standard array of three 55-inch curved OLEDscreens stacked on top of one another in a vertical formation. In practice, it would mean any images put in front of you while you ride would extend from around foot-level to all the way above your head, just parallel to the ceiling.
The idea here is that you would feel immersedin the experience of riding a bike through an idyllic European town simply due to the sheer amount of screens at play. You would likely get the same amount of exercise as you would from any regular exercise bike, though.
In other words, this is a mutant version of Pelotonthat would presumably be substantially more expensive andnearly impossible for someone who lives in a one-bedroom in Brooklyn to fit in their home. Practical concerns like price and size may not be relevant here, however, as LG referred to Virtual Ride as a "product concept" in its press release; something that's meant to demonstrate the power of curved displays . No pricing or availability information was given.
That’s a shame because having a tower of 55-inch TVs in the corner of your living room that you never use would be funny.
