At its MacBook-centric event Thursday, homo eroticism Apple did not -- as some have hoped -- introduce a new standalone display.
It did, however, partner up with LG, which launched a pair of monitors designed to work with the new MacBook Pro. They can be purchased directly from Apple's website.
SEE ALSO: Watch the full keynote from Apple's MacBook eventTwo models are available: the LG UltraFine 27-inch 5K monitor, and the LG UltraFine 21.5-inch 4K monitor.
The larger of the two has a 5,120x2,880 resolution (note that Apple's own 27-inch 5K iMac has the same resolution) -- that's 218 pixels per inch. It's an IPS display with a P3 wide color gamut and 500 cd/m2 of brightness.
It also has a Thunderbolt 3 port (don't worry, these are the same shape as USB-C) which lets it transfer data from the MacBook Pro while simultaneously charging it. It also has three additional USB-C ports, as well as built-in camera, microphone and speakers.
The 21.5-inch model has the same ports, and also has built-in speakers; LG did not mention a camera or microphone in its press release, and Apple doesn't list them, either. As for the panel, it's an IPS display with a 4K (4,096x2,304 resolution), with the same specs as the 5K one.
The 21.5-inch LG UltraFine 4K model can be ordered now from Apple for $699, with the shipping time being 5-6 weeks.
The 27-inch, 5K model costs $1,299, but is currently listed as unavailable. LG says it will be available in "early December" at Apple Stores in the U.S.
