This fall there will be Secret Confessions (2025) Spongkey Episode 44four superhero shows on The CW, but only one of them, Legends of Tomorrow, follows a team of time-traveling anti-heroes.
SEE ALSO: 6 essential episodes to help you catch up with 'Supergirl'The show features Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer, a.k.a. Atom, and Caity Lotz, formerly of Arrow, as Sara Lance, a.k.a. White Canary. Also starring are Victor Garber (Alias), Wentworth Miller (Prison Break) and Arthur Darvill (Doctor Who).
In essence, the show is about a group of super-powered people jumping around history while trying to stop immortal villain Vandal Savage, played by Casper Crump.
If you want to catch up before the premiere, either to be fully versed in The CW "Arrowverse" or get a refresher on last season, here are the six episodes of Legends of Tomorrowyou need to see.(Note: The last five episodes of the series are currently on CWTV.com, and the rest will soon be coming to Netflix.)
While the threads of the series began onThe Flashand Arrow, the pilot introduces Rip Hunter (Darvill) and his quest for vengeance against Vandal Savage. Hunter's attempts to bring the larger group together first showcases how much work it takes to make these disparate heroes work as a team.
The gang had previously traveled to 1975 to stop Savage from buying weapons of mass destruction. They attempt to stop his business the old-fashioned way: robbing him blind. But the team is far from unified, Rip Hunter is keeping secrets, and one team member pays with their life.
A rare episode that doesn't include Savage, the team instead finds themselves facing time pirates in an episode reminiscent of the sci-fi show Firefly. And while most of the group is bonding, demons and mental health issues drive a wedge between Dominic Purcell's Mick and his former partner-in-crime Snart (Miller). This episode is also the beginning of the adorkable star-crossed romance of Kendra (played by Ciara Renee) and Ray (Routh).
After jumping through space and time for four episodes, with little regard for how their adventures may be changing history and constantly on the run from Rip's old Time Master bosses, the team is now being hunted by the Time Master's best assassin: The Pilgrim. Because The Pilgrim is targeting the team's younger selves, this episode includes multiple versions of most of the cast, and forces Rip to outsmart and outlast the organization he once worked for.
What's the worst thing to do once you've finally tracked down and taken in your worst enemy? Leaving him in a cell on your ship where he can talk to every emotional and volatile member of your team. But putting Savage on his ship is only the start of Rip's mistakes in this episode.
The season finale, "Legendary," continues after a showdown with the Time Masters and one of the team members sacrificing themselves. Now the remaining members must track down Savage, save Kendra and Carter (Falk Hentschel), and stop Savage from destroying the world.
Legends of TomorrowSeason 2 premieres Thursday, Oct. 13 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
