While the Kindle Kids is more affordable ($105 vs. $140 on sale), it isn't waterproof. That's the main reason we prefer the Kindle Paperwhite Kids instead. The newest model was released last fall and comes in its thinnest, fastest form yet. Yet it's still heftier than the adult Kindle Paperwhite, so it's able to withstand kid shenanigans. It packs a seven-inch display with a higher contrast ratio, 25 percent faster page turns than its predecessor, and a free six-month subscription to Amazon Kids+, which is loaded with age-appropriate books. Why we like it

The Echo Pop Kids is a fun and affordable way to introduce your kids to Alexa. Our pals at PCMag (which is owned by Mashable's publisher, Ziff Davis) named it "Amazon's top smart speaker for children" and gave it the PCMag Editor's Choice honor. It's packed with age-appropriate content, stories, audiobooks, and music for your little ones and encourages independence, while still keeping parents in charge via parental controls. The only downside is it only comes in Disney-licensed designs. But if you've got a kid who's a Disney princess or Marvel fan, you're in luck.
