It's always fun to judge someone by their favorite Star Warsmovie,Watch Mound Daughter so how about judging a whole U.S. state? We're sick enough of looking at those electoral college maps, so Reviews.org used data from Google trends to determine every state's favorite Star Wars movie.
SEE ALSO: These are the 11 most important Star Wars scenes ever. Fight me.A lovely, color-coded map represents every movie, from 1977's A New Hopeto 2016's Rogue One.
A New Hope was the most popular, but beloved overwhelmingly by southeast and northeast regions of the country. The Midwest and West Coast took more to Return of the Jedi, while Empire Strikes Backinexplicably only topped the results in Utah. Idaho was a similar holdout, but for Attack of the Clones, which points to either extremely questionable taste preferences or perhaps a fervent mistrust of sand. Swing states like Florida and Michigan swung for Episode VII: The Force Awakens, with fans of The Phantom Menaceand Revenge of the Sithsprinkled throughout.
Reviews.org studied Google data from as early as 2004, before Revenge of the Sith, The Force Awakens, or Rogue Onehad released in theaters. Other findings showed that Return of the Jediresonates with blue states (California, Oregon, Illinois, etc.) and that Virginians Googled these movies less than citizens of any other state (ranking last for fiveof the eight movies).
