Uber is Hizoban Higasa no onnagetting ready to bring UberEats to at least 22 new countries, according to a new report from Reuters.
That's a huge expansion for the food delivery service, which is only in six countries right now. Reuters determined the ride-hailing giant was launching an ambitious expansion for its food delivery platform through an analysis of its job postings.
UberEats has quickly snatched up a significant market share in the crowded field of food delivery. In the US, UberEats competes with Grubhub, Seamless and Postmates, while in a competitive market like London it's up against JustEat and Deliveroo. Even Amazon is entering the food delivery wars, offering restaurant delivery in 12 US cities and London.
Uber has open job listings for at least 150 roles in at least 22 new markets, Reuters said. The positions range from general managers and sales staff to couriers.
In response to a request for comment from Mashable, an Uber spokesperson said UberEats was now available in nine countries. The service is launching in Amsterdam, Dubai and Johannesburg on Thursday.
The company also said it was launching in Brussels, Stockholm and "a few more cities" later this year, but did not comment on any larger expansion plans.
"Today UberEATS announced its ambitious expansion plans in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. UberEATS is already operational in London and Paris and today announced it will be launching in Amsterdam, Brussels, Dubai, Johannesburg and Stockholm before the end of the year," the company said in a statement. "UberEATS has proved hugely popular in Europe and we're excited about delivering food to people across the region as seamlessly as they can book a ride."
Ahead of Thursday's launches, UberEats was in 33 cities, 27 of which are in the US.
