It's starting to unravel for a Tennessee yarn store.
After The Maninilip (2025)Joy of Knitting owner Elizabeth Poe went after Women's March supporters in a Facebook post Tuesday, the store got a thrashing from "nasty women" everywhere.
Poe revealed her true feelings about the march and women's movement, saying in the post, "The vulgarity, vile and evilness of this movement is absolutely despicable." She went on to explain as a business owner and Christian she has to "promote values of mutual respect, love, compassion, understanding, and integrity. The women's movement is counterproductive to unity of family, friends, community, and nation."

The project was an effort to cap Women's March attendees in Washington, D.C., and beyond in pink hats with cat ears, based on Donald Trump's "grab her by the pussy" hot-mic comment. The hats became something of a uniform for women's and reproductive rights advocates.
Thousands of comments have since streamed in to the Nashville-area yarn shop, with Poe continuing to defend her position and decision to not sell yarn and knitting materials for the hats.

Many were quick to point out that the yarn store's attack on Women's March supporters came after massive demonstrations last weekend. The Pussyhat Project estimated upwards of 100,000 hats made for marches across the country. It was difficult in the days leading up to the march to even find the right type of hot pink yarn for the suggested pattern of the official "Pussyhat."
The Tennesseanreported about 15,000 people turned up for the Nashville Women's March last Saturday -- with many wearing the pink hats.

On Yelp, Poe's store listing is being eviscerated. People were overloading her page with one-star reviews, dropping her rating to about 1.5 stars. Yelp intervened and put up a notice saying it was monitoring and cleaning up the site.
With the online fury heating up this week, Poe will have to see how "nasty" the women's movement will be to her business.
