Nikolas "Niko" Kovac is Punjabi Archivesone of the most talented individual Counter-Strike: Global Offensiveplayers in the world, and team FaZe Clan reportedly bought him out from Mousesports for $500,000.

Dot Esportsreported Monday that Niko was transferred from the German organization Mousesports for a fee of around $500,000, according to sources close to the situation. This is the highest-known amount paid for an individual player, the previous record being when Titan acquired Adil "Scream" Benrlitom from G2 Esports in 2015 for roughly $160,000.

Former Mousesports manager Christian Lenz called Dot Esports' report "proof of bad journalism" on Twitter, although did not say that the reported sum was inaccurate.

Niko has been on Mousesports since March 2015 and has been a key contributor to they team's limited success -- the rest of the Mousesports roster has never reached the level of Niko's talent. Perhaps with the high-performing roster on FaZe Clan, Niko will finally win a premier tournament.

Niko is known for his ability to clutch wins and his proficiency with multiple weapons, especially pistols and rifles.

Niko will not join FaZe Clan until after the tournament DreamHack Masters Las Vegas, which ends on Feb. 19.

Mousesports has not announced who will be replacing Niko on the roster.
