The company dropped the final version of its Android O beta, signalling that the official release is almost here. But many were surprised to find a bizarre new Easter egg.

The unexpected Easter egg: an octopus. Yes, an octopus.
In each new version of Android, Google hides an Easter egg in the settings menu -- typically based on whatever dessert-themed name the update's been given. You can find it by heading to Settings --> System --> About Phone --> Android Versionand holding down on the "O" logo.

While some have speculated the octopus means Google is ditching its dessert theme with Android O, that seems unlikely. More likely: Google is subtly trolling us all as we wait for the name to be officially announced. A Google spokesperson declined to comment on the octopus.
The good news, however, is that we won't have much longer to wait. With the final beta being released today, that means Google is closer than ever to making Android O official and, if they follow the same pattern they have in recent years, we'll learn the name ahead of the public release.
